We have a unique opportunity for a Propane Installation & Service Foreman to join our Service team. As the leading importer, distributor and installer of LPG / Propane Gas in the Cayman Islands, the Installation & Service Foreman will be responsible for overseeing the operational safety and maintenance of all propane installations – new and existing, residential and commercial, above and below ground for Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.
Core Responsibilities of the role, but not limited to:
- Oversee correct installation practices according to international fuel code, ensuring safe, functional propane infrastructure for all new residential and commercial sites across all three Cayman Islands.
- Ensure existing installations are evaluated through Home Gas safety audit protocols with corrective actions undertaken where appropriate.
- Lead cathodic protection installations and analysis for all underground (tank and pipeline) installations at new and existing sites.
- Ensure correct pipe sizing and installation at all large scale commercial installations.
- Be an ambassador for Home Gas on all building sites as the liaison between building contractors and architects and Home Gas Service technicians.
- Create accurate as-built drawings for service installations where infrastructure may deviate from architectural renderings.
- Maintaining professional and technical certification and knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
- Adhere to government and industry best practices, codes, and regulations.
You will need to provide examples of the following Key Competencies at interview:
- Thorough knowledge of Fuel or Gas installation and safety pertaining to parts, fixtures and fittings.
- Thorough knowledge of types of pipework used in compressed gas installations, conditions each material is best used for and how to join for large scale installations.
- Experience of managing technicians, engineers and on site construction personnel of varied experience and backgrounds.
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate will have 10 years+ experience working in a field based environment with hazardous compressed gases – i.e. propane, natural gas, butane.
- Have a hands-on service, installation and maintenance engineering background, with fundamental knowledge and proven understanding of different pipe materials, fixtures, fittings and valves.
- Have experience operating heavy duty specialized tools and machinery – backhoes, crane trucks, excavators, pipe fusing and press fitting.
- The role will be physical. You will be working outside on job sites with heavy lifting.
- Group 4 driving license desired.
- The role will require weekend work depending on project and maintenance schedules.
In return for performing the above duties you will be rewarded with a salary of KY$20-25 per hour, plus health insurance, pension, and excellent working conditions.
