We are looking for a hybrid Infrastructure Painter and Commercial Cleaner to join our team! This is a newly created position requiring applicants with a diverse skill set.

 

On the one hand, the role will entail painting propane tanks (either at the plant or installed in the field) and commercial, plant and residential propane infrastructure (including meters, pipework, fixtures, and fittings). At the same time, the ideal candidate will also have commercial cleaning or janitorial experience, preferably specializing in kitchen deep cleans and cooking appliances.

 

Infrastructure Painter skills and responsibilities would include:

• Surface Preparation: Meticulously preparing surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, removing old wallpaper, and applying paint remover.
• Repairing Surfaces: Filling holes, cracks, and joints with putty, plaster, or caulk.
• Application: Applying coats of paint, primer, and sealers using brushes, rollers, or spray guns.
• Mixing and Matching: Mixing paints to achieve the correct color and texture.
• Site Protection: Covering surfaces with drop cloths, masking tape, and plastic to protect against paint spills.
• Equipment Setup/Maintenance: Erecting scaffolding, ladders, and scaffolding to access high areas, and cleaning tools daily. 

 

Commercial Cleaning skills and responsibilities would include:

• Deep Cleaning/Degreasing: Clean and degrease kitchen equipment such as stoves, fryers, grills, hobs, and ovens.
• Ventilation & High Level: Clean ventilation hoods, filters, and ducts to reduce fire risks and maintain air quality.
• Sanitization & Hygiene: Follow HACCP guidelines to disinfect food prep areas, sinks, taps, and high-touch areas with approved chemicals.
• Structural Cleaning: Scrub floors, walls, and ceiling surfaces, including hard-to-reach areas behind equipment.

 

Key Skills for the role will include:

• Attention to detail for a flawless finish.
• Physical stamina for standing, climbing, lifting, and moving equipment and appliances.
• Knowledge of painting materials and safety procedures.
• Knowledge of sanitation protocols and chemical safety (e.g., COSHH guidelines).
• Familiarity with kitchen appliances both residential and commercial.
• Ability to use industrial cleaning machinery and equipment.
• Thoroughness and diligence to ensure compliance with health and hygiene regulations.

 

Whilst this is a brand new position within Home Gas, we anticipate that it will swiftly turn into a critical role. Due to the nature of work there is likely to be long hours or varied shift patterns. It will also involve frequent travel to the Sister Islands. From the outset, this role must ensure a high level of customer satisfaction, productivity, safety, and efficiency.

 

You must be a team player with excellent time management skills and the ability to excel under tight deadlines and have an aptitude for working both independently and collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams.
