Job Description: Catering Manager
Department: Deli / Catering
Reports To: Senior Deli Manager
Position Summary
The Catering Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution, quality, and growth of Foster’s catering program. This role ensures catering operations are delivered to company standards across all locations while supporting team training, client communication, menu development, contract management, and food safety compliance.
The Catering Manager works closely with store teams, department leadership, and clients to ensure catering orders are executed efficiently, professionally, and to the highest standards of quality, presentation, and service.
Key Responsibilities
Operations
- Oversee catering operations across assigned locations.
- Ensure orders are prepared, packed, and delivered accurately and on time.
- Maintain consistency in quality, portioning, presentation, and service.
- Support locations with the planning and execution of catering orders and events.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and service standards.
- Ensure all locations consistently follow and uphold Foster’s recipe specifications, production standards, and presentation guidelines.
Quality Control
- Maintain quality control of the established catering menu.
- Ensure all products meet Foster’s standards for taste, appearance, packaging, and presentation.
- Monitor execution and address quality concerns promptly.
- Ensure recipes are followed accurately across all locations to maintain consistency, quality, and cost control.
Training and Team Development
- Train catering teams at each location on procedures, standards, and expectations.
- Provide coaching and support to improve consistency, efficiency, and performance.
- Partner with Deli Managers, Supervisors, and Store Management to ensure accountability and execution.
Client Relations and Business Development
- Manage catering emails, inquiries, and custom client requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicate with clients regarding order details, timelines, and expectations.
- Meet with prospective clients to build relationships and develop new business.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients to support retention and repeat business.
Menu Development and Innovation
- Lead research and development of new catering dishes and initiatives.
- Collaborate with leadership on menu improvements, seasonal offerings, and new opportunities.
- Use customer feedback and operational insight to improve the catering program.
Contract Management
- Maintain existing catering contracts and standing accounts.
- Ensure service commitments and client expectations are consistently met.
- Support long-term account retention through strong follow-up and service delivery.
Food Safety and Sanitation
- Uphold all sanitation, food safety, and operational standards.
- Ensure proper food handling, storage, transportation, and service procedures are followed.
- Reinforce compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in catering, food service management, culinary operations, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of catering logistics, food quality, presentation, and customer service.
- Experience training and supporting teams in a fast-paced food service environment.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and client requests effectively.
- Sound knowledge of sanitation and food safety standards.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and general administrative systems preferred.
