Job Description

Job Title:           Deli Cook

Department:  Deli

Reports To:      Deli Supervisor and/or Deli Manager

 

 

Job Summary – The position will be responsible for in-store activities within the Department, including providing assistance to the Department Supervisor and/or Manager by maintaining, preparing and presenting meals. The position will be responsible for providing quality customer service in a safe and healthy environment. Position must observe all store and company policies; while maintaining a neat, well-groomed personal appearance.

 

Job Duties

  1. Provide all customers with prompt, courteous and friendly service.
  2. Have basic knowledge of deli products and different types of merchandise available with the ability to sell and offer suggestions to customers to promote department sales.
  3. Prepare various equipment and ingredients for daily use.
  4. Prep and prepare various foods and ingredients for cooking or serving.

  5. Cook Caribbean and international dishes in volume quantities.
  6. Observe and test foods to ensure they have been cooked properly.
  7. Regulate temperature of oven, broiler, grill, and roaster.

  8. Participate in menu and recipe planning and costing control.
  9. Monitor and assist with maintaining the flow of the food lines.
  10. Code-date and rotate all merchandise to ensure quality and freshness.
  11. Follow all department inventory control procedures.
  12. Follow company procedures to ensure work areas are clean at all times. Wash and clean utensils, equipment, walls, floors and fixtures.
  13. Always show interest and willingness to learn the industry.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following.

 

  1.      Greet, Offer to Assist and Thank (GOT) all customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner anywhere in the store.

  2. Effectively handle customer complaints and contact supervisor or manager if necessary.
  3. Commit to the company’s motto “BETTER BECAUSE WE CARE” and work with other associates to build a strong department team.
  4. Observe and report to shift as scheduled or assigned by Department Manager.

  5. Acknowledge and follow all department, store and company policies and procedures.
  6. Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance always in accordance to company dress code.
  7. Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a style that demonstrates good work ethic by being Respectful, Supportive, and Totally Team Oriented.
  8. Practice the “Clean as you go” and proper sanitation procedures.
  9. Ensure sales and work area are swept and mopped clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards, report hazards to management.
  10. Able to operate, clean and properly store department equipment and tools.
  11. Notify Management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, unauthorized sampling, or property damage/defacement.
  12. Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.
  1. Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Supervisor and/or Manager.
  2. Play an active role in the company’s commitment to care, quality, value, and service while upholding its vision, mission, and culture points.
