Job Title: Manager in Training
Department: Training Department
Reports To: Training Senior Manager
Job Summary – The holder of this position will receive in depth on the job training for operational procedures in all perishable and non-perishable store departments. Job training for the Front-End department will entail learning to operate POS systems, opening and closing procedures, responsibilities in scanning and customer service. Additional training courses required are as follows: Dale Carnegie leadership training, Basic Food Hygiene, Meat Training program with Sr. Meat and Seafood Manager and Lift Equipment testing as applicable.
Job Duties
Job duties will vary according to the position and department assigned throughout the training program. Training plans are created based on the individual’s level of experience, knowledge, and company requirements; schedule adjustments are possible at any time during the program to accommodate company needs. Competency checklist will be administered during the Manager in Training program to assess progress and evaluate knowledge.
Requirements
- Ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak English.
- Ability to perform intermediate Math and follow company CTO’s.
- Intermediate Computer literacy required.
- Comprehension of business basics required.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work varied hours/days as store or department dictates.
- Ability to display initiative, follow instructions and work with limited supervision.
- Organized time management skills.
- Strong management/leadership skills.
- Ability to make decisions and provide direction.
- Willingness to learn all work resources required of management.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in managerial position or equivalent.
- Experience in the supermarket industry is not necessary.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following.
- Greet, Offer to Assist and Thank (GOT) all customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner throughout the store.
- Play an active role in the company’s commitment to care, quality, value, and service while upholding its vision, mission, and culture points.
- “Commit to the company’s motto “BETTER BECAUSE WE CARE” and work with other associates to build a strong department team.”
- Effectively handle customer complaints and contact manager if necessary.
- Observe and report to shift as scheduled or assigned by Department Supervisor and/or Manager.
- Acknowledge and follow all department, store and company policies and procedures.
- Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance always in accordance to company dress code.
- Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a style that demonstrates good work ethic by being Respectful, Supportive, and Totally Team Oriented.
- Practice the “Clean as you go” and proper sanitation procedures.
- Ensure sales and work area are swept and mopped clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards, report hazards to management.
- Able to properly operate, store and clean department equipment and tools.
- Notify Management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, unauthorized sampling, or property damage/defacement.
- Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Department Supervisor and/or Manager.
Job Function- Position Standards
- Ensure company standards of safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are achieved.
- Participate actively in controlling shrink (such as disposals, over production, security, shoplifting, product handling, damage control, pricing etc.).
- Consistently demonstrate good judgment and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful situations.
- Communicate needs and challenges to the Training Manager to optimize performance of the Manager in Training program.
- Bring to the Store Manager’s attention complaints concerning food quality and service.
Salary Range: KYD $38,500 - $39,500 per annum
