Job Title: Warehouse Associate
Department: Warehouse
Reports To: Warehouse Supervisor and/or Warehouse Senior Manager
Job Summary – The position will be responsible for accurately and efficiently handling the shipping and receiving activities following department guidelines. The position will be responsible for providing quality customer service in a safe and healthy environment. Position must also observe all department and company policies; while maintaining a neat, well-groomed personal appearance.
Job Duties
- Select and receive various food items to be shipped to stores.
- Palletize and shrink wrap food items.
- Operate material handling equipment necessary to transport, stack, replenish or select food items.
- Cross train and work in various areas of the warehouse.
- Follow company procedures to ensure a safe work environment.
- Follow all department inventory control procedures.
- Follow company procedures to ensure work areas are always clean.
- Always show interest and willingness to learn the industry.
Requirements
- Ability to read, comprehend, write and speak English.
- Ability to perform basic Math.
- Basic computer competency preferred.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
- Exhibit attention to detail and commitment.
- Positive interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work in largely diverse teams.
- Ability to work varied hours/days as needs dictate, including over-night shifts.
- Ability to lift 30, 50 and 70Ibs regularly
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to work at elevated heights
- Ability to timely multitask while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to endure hot and cold temperatures.
- Possess a valid Group 2 or higher driver’s license and have a good driving record.
- Previous warehouse or distribution experience a plus, but not required.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following.

- Effectively handle customer complaints and contact manager if necessary.
- Observe and report to shift as scheduled or assigned by Store Manager.

- Practice the “Clean as you go” and proper sanitation procedures.
- Ensure work area is orderly, and free from safety hazards, report hazards to management.
- Able to properly operate, store and clean department equipment and tools.
- Notify Management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, unauthorized sampling, or property damage/defacement.
- Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.
- Perform any other duties assigned by Department Supervisor and/or Manager.
Job Function- Position Standards
- Exercise safe food handling practices.
- Maintain the cooler, freezer, equipment, and work area to the sanitation standards of the company.
- Stock displays and keep all products rotated in accordance with company policy and product code dates and always make use of the oldest products first. FIFO (first in, first out).
- Fill and build displays to an appealing manner; ensure all products are priced accurately.
- Offer suggestive selling by recommending products and maintaining stock levels.
- Assist in checking and verifying department receiving’s when required.
- Follow company procedures for receiving, unloading, and putting away daily loads from delivery and store products in designated areas to protect product quality.
- Report any questionable perishable products outside of fridge to Store Management.
- Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
- Monitor cooler and display area temperatures to ensure product quality, report refrigeration failure immediately.
- Always ensure a safe work environment throughout the store.
- Remove trash and clean department garbage containers in accordance with company policy.
