Job Description

 

Job Title:           Meat /Seafood Associate

Department:  Meat and Seafood 

Reports To:      Department Supervisor and/or Department Manager

 

 

Job Summary – The position will be responsible for in-store activities within the Department, including providing assistance to the Department Supervisor and/or Manager by maintaining, preparing and presenting merchandise. The position will be responsible for providing quality customer service in a safe and healthy environment. Position must also observe all store and company policies; while maintaining a neat, well-groomed personal appearance.

 

Job Duties

  1. Provide all customers with prompt, courteous and friendly service.
  2. Have knowledge of different types of meat and seafood products and services with the ability to make suggestions and sell to customers.
  3. Wraps, weighs, and prices all meats and related products processed in the Meat & Seafood Department.
  4. Take products to refrigerated storage or shelf areas.
  5. Ensure that all displayed shelves are properly stocked, clean and faced at all times.
  6. Willingness to learn product & cutting techniques.
  7. Code-dates and rotates all merchandise to ensure quality and freshness.
  8. Follow all department inventory control procedures.
  9. Maintain an organized and clean work area at all times.
  10. Always show interest and willingness to learn the industry.

 

Requirements

    • Ability to read, comprehend, write and speak English.
    • Ability to perform basic Math.
    • Ability to follow instructions.
    • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
    • Exhibit attention to detail and commitment
    • Positive interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work in largely diverse teams.
    • Ability to work varied hours/days as store dictates
    • Ability to lift up to 75lbs and to stand for extended periods of time.
    • Ability to work in consistently cold temperatures of below 50 degrees.
    • Ability to timely multitask while working in a fast pace environment.
    • Company will provide certification for the Complete Basic Food & Hygiene certification.

 

  Job Function – Company Standards

 

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following.

 

  1. Greet, Offer to Assist and Thank (GOT) all customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner throughout the store.

  2. Play an active role in the company’s commitment to care, quality, value and service while upholding its vision, mission and culture points.
  3. “Commit to the company’s motto “BETER BECAUSE WE CARE” and work with other associates to build a strong department team.”
  4. Effectively handle customer complaints and contact manager if necessary.
  5. Observe and report to shift as scheduled or assigned by Department Supervisor and/or Manager.

  6. Acknowledge and follow all department, store and company policies and procedures.
  7. Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance always in accordance to company dress code.
  8. Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a style that demonstrates good work ethic by being Respectful, Supportive, and Totally Team Oriented.
  9. Practice the “Clean as you go” and proper sanitation procedures.
  10. Ensure sales and work area are swept and mopped clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards, report hazards to management.
  11. Able to properly operate, store and clean department equipment and tools.
  12. Notify Management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, unauthorized sampling, or property damage/defacement.
  13. Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.
  1. Perform any other duties assigned by Department Supervisor and/or Manager.

 

Job Function - Position Standards

 

  1. Exercise safe food handling practices.
  2. Stock displays and keep all products rotated in accordance with company policy and product code dates and always make use of the oldest products first FIFO (first in, first out).
  3. Fill and build displays; make sure product is priced accurately.
  4. Offer suggestive selling by recommending products.
  5. Maintain the cooler, freezer, equipment, and work area to the sanitation standards of the company.
  6. Wrap, weigh, and price all meat and seafood products processed in the department.
  7. Assist in stocking department receivable at the request of the Department Supervisor and/or Manager.
  8. Follow company procedures for receiving, unloading, and putting away daily loads from delivery and store products in designated areas to protect product quality.
  9. Report any questionable perishable products outside of fridge to Store Management.
  10. Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and assist in controlling the level of damaged goods.
  11. Monitor cooler and display area temperature to ensure product quality; report refrigeration failure immediately.
  12. Ensure a safe work environment on the sales floor at all times.
  13. Remove trash and clean department garbage containers in accordance to company policy.
