Job Title:         Groundsman

Department:  Store Support

Reports To:    Assistant Store Manager and/or Store Manager

 

Job Summary – The position will be responsible for out-store activities to maintain the compound, including providing assistance to customers, collection of carts, and cleaning. The position will be responsible for providing quality customer service in a safe and healthy environment. Observe all store and company policies; while maintaining a neat, well-groomed personal appearance.

 

Job Duties

  1. Provide all customers with prompt, courteous and friendly service.
  2. Collect and stock carts ensuring they are readily available for customers.

  3. Clean and maintain interior and exterior areas of buildings on a daily basis, as well as performing additional seasonal cleaning tasks.
  4. Dispose of all garbage in accordance to company policy.
  5. Assist customers with loading items into their vehicles.
  6. Report any safety hazards to Store Management.
  7. Always show interest and willingness to learn the industry.

 

Requirements

  • Ability to read, comprehend, write and speak English.
  • Ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Positive interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as store dictates.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to work in different environments and weather conditions.
  • High Energy level

 

Job Function- Company Standards

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following.

 

  1. Greet, Offer to Assist and Thank (GOT) all customers in a prompt, courteous and friendly manner anywhere in the store.

  2. Effectively handle customer complaints and contact supervisor or manager if necessary.
  3. Commit to the company’s motto “BETTER BECAUSE WE CARE” and work with other associates to build a strong department team.
  4. Observe and report to shift as scheduled or assigned by Department Manager.

  5. Acknowledge and follow all department, store and company policies and procedures.
  6. Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance must always be in accordance to company dress code.
  7. Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a style that demonstrates good work ethic by being Respectful, Supportive, and Totally Team Oriented.
  8. Practice the “Clean as you go” and proper sanitation procedures.
  9. Ensure sales and work area are swept and mopped clean, orderly, and free from safety hazards, report hazards to management.
  10. Able to operate, clean and properly store department equipment and tools.
  11. Notify Management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, unauthorized sampling, or property damage/defacement.
  12. Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.
  1. Perform any other duties assigned by the Department Supervisor and/or Manager.
  2. Play an active role in the company’s commitment to care, quality, value and service while upholding its vision, mission and culture points.

Job Function- Position Standards

  1. Maintain a clean and sanitary compound, including parking lot and surrounding areas.
  2. Regularly collect shopping carts from lot and organize in a neat manner, ensuring that they are stocked and available for customers. Report damaged carts to Store Manager.
  3. Ensure motorized cart is functional and charged.
  4. Operating electric cleaner on occasion.
  5. Always ensure a safe work environment throughout the store.
  6. Remove trash and clean department garbage containers in accordance to company policy. Ensure all garbage and trash has been disposed of in parking lot area, sidewalks, premises etc.
