Job Description

Job Title:             Store Manager

Department:      Store

Reports to:         Category Management, Sales and Marketing Executive Manager

Job Summary – The position is responsible for providing effective planning, organizing, leading, coordinating and optimizing the materials and human resources within the supermarket location assigned. The position must manage daily operations, department and assistant store manager development, and customer and associate satisfaction for total store. The position must ensure variety and high-quality products appealingly displayed to maximize the sales and profits of the total store while maintaining great customer service.

 

Job Duties

  1. Responsible for gross profit, sales budgets, payroll and managing total store expenses and achieving financial objectives.
  2. Responsible for planning and managing the budget in relation to profit and loss.
  3. Set and monitor store goals, including maximizing profitability and meeting sales targets.
  4. Responsible for training & development of assistant store managers in total store operations and leadership.
  5. Lead and support the training and development of managers, supervisors, and associates.
  6. Motivate and guide team to maximize profitability, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  7. Ability to properly utilize shelf space and merchandise to maximize sales and profits.
  8. Liaise with Purchasing Department on merchandising, pricing, and stock control to increase sales and productivity.
  9. Communicate and implement creative and innovative marketing plans.
  10. Responsible for accurate recordkeeping and timely submission of reports as required.
  11. Responsible for reviewing quarterly inventory results performed by external auditing.
  12. Responsible for overseeing the conduct of recruitment selection, training, performance appraisal, and employee development according to company policies and procedures.
  13. Manage and maintain strict compliance with company health and safety programs including sanitation, risk management and asset management programs.

  14. Assist with development, implementation and updating Department policy and procedure manuals.
  15. Demonstrate leadership abilities and decision-making skills in-line with company expectations and standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, comprehend, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to perform intermediate Math and follow company CTO’s.
  • Computer competency required.
  • Comprehension of business intermediate required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
  • Positive interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as store or department dictates.
  • Ability to display initiative, follow instructions and work with limited supervision.

  • Willingness to learn P&L reports and/CTO.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to endure hot/cold temperatures.
  • Successful 10-15 years managerial experience in Supermarket operations or related field.
  • Experience in overseeing Perishable departments is recommended.

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following.

  4. Effectively handle customer complaints and contact manager if necessary.
  5. Observe and report to shift as scheduled or assigned by Store Manager.
  6. Acknowledge and follow all department, store and company policies and procedures.
  7. Maintain a neat, well-groomed personal appearance always in accordance to company dress code.
  8. Achieve the highest associate morale in the industry by working in a style that demonstrates good work ethic by being Respectful, Supportive, and Totally Team Oriented.
  9. Practice the “Clean as you go” and proper sanitation procedures.
  10. Ensure work area is orderly, and free from safety hazards, report hazards to management.
  11. Able to properly operate, store and clean department equipment and tools.
  12. Notify Management of associate theft, customer shoplifting, unauthorized markdowns, unauthorized sampling, or property damage/defacement.
  13. Exercise proper safety practices when lifting or moving product or using equipment.
  14. Perform any other duties assigned by Department Supervisor and/or Manager.

 

Job Function- Position Standards

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Ensure company standards of safety, proper food handling practices, sanitation, and productivity are achieved.
  2. Maintain accurate records. Respond timely to all location mail, email, reports, and records.
  3. Consistently demonstrate good judgment and the ability to maintain composure and professionalism in stressful situations.
  4. Support Associates, Department Supervisors, Department Managers, and Assistant Store Managers, and Senior Managers with any needs and challenges to optimize the performance of the departments.
  5. Provide an open-door atmosphere conducive to high associate morale and excellent customer service.Maintain high morale by managing in a style that is respectful, supportive and team oriented.
  6. Participate in team building by training and developing staff in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  7. Delegate and use initiative, ingenuity, and good judgment to act on opportunities and solve challenges.
  8. Ensure all new associates and managers receive proper introduction by reviewing job descriptions, goals, training manual, and objectives etc.
  9. Monitor managements responsibility to write, submit and monitor weekly schedules.
  10. Ensure fair and consistent treatment in administering discipline by reporting any sub-standard performance or misconduct to the appropriate manager within a timely manner to promote high associate morale and provide coaching when necessary.
  11. Ensure performance reviews are completed and returned to HR in a timely manner.
  12. Ensure company policies are being practiced and enforced by Department Supervisors and Managers.
  13. Assign tasks and projects to Department Managers.Follow up on completion of tasks.
  14. Responsible for warehouse service levels, on hand inventory, weekly turns, overseeing the Purchasing Department to make sure it is operating efficiently and that stores are being kept up to date on any changes or force outs and that dating issues are being handled timely.
  15. Overseeing Purchasing Department for ordering, scheduling, determining inventory levels using the NCR system to assure proper ordering.
  16. Managing and ensuring regular shelf maintenance, display building and back-room organization.
  17. Conduct monthly meetings with Department Managers to establish sales and profit objectives, upcoming ads, scorecard information and general operations.
  18. Ensure Stores are updated on all new products and code or pack changes.
  19. Partner with Marketing, Senior & Department Managers and suppliers to create sales advertisements for the assigned departments to increase sales and customer count.
  20. Communicate with vendors to ensure order invoice and quantity accuracy.
  21. Process price changes and TPR reports in conjunction with ads to assure overall Going in Gross (GIG) to achieve the best possible price image.
  22. Analyze reports to ensure necessary metrics are measured such as, GIG reports, missing/zero items report, etc.
  23. Review scans of holes sent in by Department Mangers to determine items that were out of stock, discontinued, or not provided by product vendors.
  24. Be proactive and liaise with Buyers on market trends for future forecasting
  25. Set-up new items in systems. All requests for new items must be presented with correct paperwork prior to set up in systems.
  26. Liaise with Warehouse Senior Manager on new items received by the Warehouse.

  27. Ensure action is taken on price changes, SKU changes, market changes, new products, discontinued products, and out-of-stocks as it is communicated by the Purchasing Department.
  28. Analyze and manage Contribution to Overhead (CTO) as set forth by the company.
  29. Attend food shows to ensure goods are bought at the best possible costs, to evaluate opportunities to reduce costs, find new items and to improve profitability and competitiveness.
  30. Create, develop and/or update systems, policies and procedures to support changes within the store. Continue to develop, implement and update store Procedure Manual.
  31. Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

Salary range KYD $75,000 - $80,000 per annum
